"The goal for Team One Southern Indiana would be the combination of the social & physical education involved in martial arts. We want to help each individual with their specific aspirations whether that is someone who has never experienced martial arts, looking for a new fitness challenge, or even to be a jiu jitsu/mma competitor. Ultimately we aim to immerse each student in the comradere within Jiu Jitsu & support our community by offering a positive atmosphere to grow as a person."
For those who do not know jiu jitsu, it is a Japanese martial art. It is a self-defense martial art based on grappling, ground fighting and submission holds. It focuses on the skill of controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position and using a number of techniques to force them in to submission via joint locks or chokes.
"I began training January of 2012, at this time I was 20 years old with no sense of direction for my life. I pushed myself to pursue a skill and dedicate my time & energy. Quickly I found myself overtaken by the infinite grind that was Jiu Jitsu & the rapid rate of growth that could occur. My brain attached to the discipline & the skill set I was obtaining.
Throughout my years of training I have dedicated myself to 3-4 days + weekly sometimes going multiple times a day or even training every single day of the week. I've made friends that will last a lifetime & expanded my circle further than what I thought possible. I found that while I joined initially for the self defense training the reasons I continued to return were so much more than that. Jiu Jitsu has inspired me to believe in myself... I've learned that dedication & persistence are the keys to obtain any goal."
We require all of our students to sign our Waiver, Release and Assumption of Risk Form before they even step foot on the mat to begin their training.
We have forms in-house that you can sign manually or you can sign the form digitally here!
